We Have a Winner… The Product Game Week 3

We have a winner! Well, more like a tie. Actually, both Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner and TRESemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner worked for me; but at different times.

I first used Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner  when I went completely natural. This products worked wonders on my new curls. It made them soft and kept them hydrated; just like the name claims. I was in love with the product for quite a while, until I decided to branch out and try some different products. Nonetheless, this product will always have a special place in my heart!

I just started using this product and my curls and I are already in love!  I initially decided to try TRESemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner because my sister talked me into it. However, I don’t regret my decision! This Conditioner leaves my hair extremely silky and makes it much more manageable.

I Confess…

I have a confession to make on this snowy ATL day. I’m all about growth and natural hair. I believe growth stems from taking care of the hair and being consistent. Despite my beliefs, I have had the urge to try the Hairfinity Vitamins I’ve been hearing so much about. Lately, I have seen people rave about these vitamins all over the Web. I’ve come across several pictures of a person’s hair length before they started taking the vitamins and after. These so called “hair vitamins” are known for their ability to grow hair fast. They are made with several different nutrients that aid in the hair growth process. These specific nutrients range from biotin, which promotes healthy hair growth, and Vitamin B Complex, which keeps the scalp healthy.

At first, I was a little skeptical about these Vitamins for one particular reason: several people and companies have created products, like these Vitamins, that supposedly help the hair grow faster, but have failed in their hair growth claims. I have to confess, I have tried some of these products, but in trying them, I found that they didn’t make my hair grow any faster than it already was. You see, I’m all about doing the necessary things that helps my tresses grow and retain that growth. However, after doing further research on the Hairfinity Vitamins, I concluded that because they have so many natural ingredients that are good for the body and hair, they may be a worthy product to try. I cannot say for sure that the Vitamins will actually make my hair grow, because I have not tried them. However, I am definitely seriously thinking about forgoing my strict natural hair rules, and trying them. Hopefully, my skepticism will be erased and I will join the team of Hairfinity believers!

You’ve heard my confession. Now I want to hear yours! What do you want to confess?

We Have a Winner… The Product Game Week 2

Eden Body Works Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo is one of my favorite shampoo’s. It is all natural and contains no sulfates. Because it is made with peppermint leaves, it provides the scalp with a stimulating tingle. I love this because it makes my hair and scalp feel extremely clean. I would definitely recommended this product to every girl with curls!

One ‘n Only Argan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo is a very good product. Even though it is made with argan oil, which really works well with my hair type, it didn’t make my hair feel clean and silky like Eden Body Works Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo did. However, it is a good product to try simply because it is all natural and contains a good moisturizing agent in the argan oil.

There you have it! Still can’t get enough? Well don’t worry, The Product Game will continue next week, right here on the Natural Hair Diary!

What are some of your favorite products?

Oh, the Naturalbilities!

One of the many fun and unique things about natural hair is the fact that you never have to wear the same style twice; unless you want to. Being natural for almost three years, I have enjoyed the versatility that comes along with it. I love that I can change it up and wear my hair in a different style every single day. One day I may wear a twist-out, and another day I may come into the office with a sleek updo. In doing this, at times, I may have my coworkers wondering where I find time to do so much to my hair. But for me, there is always time because the possibilities are endless!

For those naturals, like me, who get bored with the same style but aren’t really knowledgeable about the many different styles out there, I am more than happy to provide you naturalistas with a style book of endless possibilities. Well, more like a style list with pictures and descriptions. But either way, it will get the job done!

I fell in LOVE with this style once I tried it. Using an old twist out, I pinned my hair up in the back using bobby pins and then left the front out. To spice it up a little, I added a red scarf.

This look is a favorite of mine and a go to when my straightened hair puffs up due to humidity. To achieve this look, all I did was add a little twist cream to my hair, twist it up, and then took out the twists in the morning. GORG!

Throwback! This was my signature style back when I did my big chop; the side part and slicked down edges. Loved it.

The classic puff; it is a great go to style when all else fails. To do my puff, I use a stretched out elastic headband. Putting it on my head the normal way you would a headband, I double it to make it tighter and push my hair up into a puff.

When you are having a bad hair day and don’t know what to do, grab a cute scarf, pin down the back of your hair, and tie the scarf where it totally covers the pinned down hair and leaves the front hair exposed. It makes for a cute and dressy style.

Protective styles are usually what I turn to when I am tired of my hair. My signature protective style is mini twists. They may take a while to do, but it is worth it when you can keep your hands off your hair for a while and just let it grow.

This is one of my lazy styles that can be worn to the store, work, or even on a night out. Using my mini twists from the previous picture, I just twisted them back into bigger twists creating this spicy little number.

The hawk, a cute, and sometimes, daring look that looks flattering on just about anybody. To achieve this adventurous look, braid the sides of your hair going up, and leave the center out.

Color is one of the things that make natural hair really POP. I am in love with this red auburn color by Garnier Fructis. It adds a little something extra to this look that was achieved by flat twisting the front of my hair and leaving the rest out.

This sassy number, courtesy of Georgia humidity, was achieved by allowing my straightened hair to puff back up into its natural state.

No matter what you decide to do to your hair, remember to work with what you’ve got! Don’t rely on just one style, take a chance and experiment. Natural hair is meant to be explored!
